Nystria — population, grain, and Cumberland agriculture
Authoritative planning reference for discussions of Nystria geography and logistics. Map: compressed, mirror-image British Isles (Nystria.jpg). Not all figures are revealed in published chapters.

Realm population (planning)
| Territory |
Total pop. |
Urban / notes |
| Cumberland |
120,000 |
Five counties (names TBD; Hamilton is one). Fulham largest city (~16,000). Ostford ~1,200. Cyningstow ~800 (fishing port; #3 after Fulham and Ostford). Devon+Somerset analogue in area and coastline (Narrow + Wide seas). |
| Midlands |
80,000 |
Wickham ~22,500 — major fishing port; supplies itself and sends surplus grain → Haven. |
| Royal fief |
60,000 |
Haven ~55,000 + ~5,000 immediate surrounds. |
| Westmarch |
~62,000 |
Wessex+Sussex analogue in size/shape; no major cities; settlements <500 (manor/village scale). Farming; Haven 90% grain pool. |
| Kernow |
50,000 |
Cornwall analogue. Southham ~18,000 — major trade/shipping. |
| Kirkwall |
~42,000 |
Scotland analogue in shape; mostly wooded. Only city: Yorvik ~12,000. Other settlements <500 (incl. Peterborough as largest northern hamlet). |
| Realm total (mainland + Heltland) |
~414,000 |
Excludes transient armies, visitors, and Cumberland standing forces off the civilian census (below). |
Haven grain supply
Haven (55,000) cereal need (planning): ~130 kg grain-equivalent / person / year → ~7,150 t/year.
Midlands: Wickham is in the 90% pool — local farms + fish feed ~22,500; surplus grain moves to Haven (and Wickham docks handle realm grain export to Dania).
Cumberland is not the main supplier of Haven’s 90%; it is a major grain exporter to Dania and supplies part of the ~715 t import shortfall.
| Cumberland grain outbound (planning mid) |
t/year |
| → Dania (primary export) |
~5,500 (range 4,000–8,000) |
| → Haven (share of ~715 t imports) |
~400–500 |

~19,000–22,000 (~16–18% of civilians) |
Courier and Mill/Mining jobs (~350–600 at maturity) count toward the 120,000; fodder is a land constraint, not a census line.
Stress cases
| Condition |
Note |
| Dania export toward ~7,000–8,000 t + poor harvest |
Tightens arable margin; may cut forest reserve or import meat |
| Royal levée on top of standing ~1,000 infantry |
Harvest peak; fish helps protein, not grain |
| 220 archers with extra remounts on long patrol |
+~200 horses, +~500–700 ha fodder — still workable |
